"Negotiating with Jell-O"

This weekend, Democrats -- both in and out of the media -- find themselves flummoxed with Donald Trump. Again.

“Negotiating with President Trump is like negotiating with Jell-O,” Chuck Schumer whined on the Senate floor on Saturday. “It’s next to impossible.”

Welcome to "The Art of the Deal."

While all the little Schumers in the Senate were busy making millions as public servants, Trump was out dealing with banks and negotiating with oil sheikhs, Hollywood moguls, and trade union presidents on his way to becoming a mega-billionaire.

Democrats and Counterfeit Conservatives alike think because he re-negotiated loans four times in bankruptcy court that he is an incompetent.

The reality is the opposite. He has about 100 successful businesses. He has faltered over the years, but survived and thrived.

In 1990, he went into a recession overburdened by debt. That mistake was on him.

Trump then talked the banks out of foreclosing on him. That also was on him.

From the Los Angeles Times on December 8, 2016:
The future president-elect at one time owned a quarter of Atlantic City’s casino market. But Trump was heavily in debt, and he started missing bond payments on his — and Atlantic City’s — largest casino, the Taj Mahal, in 1990.
Wilbur Ross, then an investment banker working for Rothschild Inc., helped bondholders negotiate with Trump, whose finances were unraveling. The final deal reduced Trump’s ownership stake in the Taj but left him in charge, and bondholders were unhappy when Ross presented the plan.
“Why did we make a deal with him?” one asked, according to Rosenberg’s book.
Ross insisted that Trump was worth saving.
“The Trump name is still very much an asset,” he said.
Trump knows how to get things done.

No one in Washington should be surprised, but they all are because not a damned one of them has ever run a business. Jeff Bezos had to come in from New York City to save the Washington Post from its owners, the Grahams, who were the toast of Washington society for more than a century.

They knew Washington, but they did not know business. When the fortunes of newspapering changed, they were unable to adapt.

Except for Bezos, the people at the Post are still clueless.

From the Post:
In a remarkable, televised 55-minute meeting with about two dozen Democratic and Republican lawmakers earlier this month, President Trump twice proclaimed that any immigration deal would need to be “a bill of love” — setting an optimistic tone for averting a government shutdown with a bipartisan solution.
After the president ordered cameras out of the Cabinet Room that day, the group delved into the details. Kirstjen Nielsen, Trump’s homeland security secretary, and her staff passed out a four-page document on the administration’s “must haves” for any immigration bill — a hard-line list that included $18 billion for Trump’s promised border wall, eliminating the diversity visa lottery program and ending “extended family chain migration,” according to the document, which was obtained by The Washington Post.
But one person seemed surprised and alarmed by the memo: the president.
With Democrats and Republicans still in the room, Trump said that the document didn’t represent all of his positions, that he wasn’t familiar with its contents and that he didn’t appreciate being caught off-guard. He instructed the group to disregard the summary and move on, according to one of the lawmakers in the room, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation.
“It’s like the wedding where someone actually stands up and objects to the wedding,” the lawmaker said. “It was that moment.”
Hahaha.

He trolled them good.

The art of this deal is he does not want one.

But the negotiations are showing Democrats for the foolish monkeys that they are.

That is what Trump wants.

More from the Post:
“That’s the Democrats’ ad: Your government closes and Trump does a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago and half the Cabinet goes to Davos,” the adviser said, referring to a scheduled event at Trump’s private Florida club Saturday night.
I hope they run that ad.

And I hope Trump keeps doing this because there's always room for Jell-O.

How soon they forget: Your ambassador to Libya fights for his life in Benghazi and Obama goes to sleep early so he can fly to a fund raiser on the West Coast the next day.

  4. Since most of them have never bird hunted the Democraps are not familiar with the concept of leading your target. Of course it helps if you can somewhat predict where your target will be a second into the future. ;-)

  9. Democrats can't deal with Trump because their idea of "dealing" is that they get everything they want plus the satisfaction of telling the other side "NO!" on whatever they want.

    1. Schumer of the Shutdown is merely projecting again. Now that there's an adult in the White House, he doesn't know what to do. Holding his breath doesn't work anymore.
